Field Characters: Large canopy tree (30-39 m high); Bole cylindrical (50-100 cm diam., rarely to 200 cm); straight (bole 20-26 m long); buttresses occasionally buttresses present or buttresses absent; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark pale grey or greyish brown, slightly rough or smooth, slightly pustular or finely cracked, rarely lenticels rounded/swelling or lenticels irregular; Subrhytidome (under-bark) red; less than 25 mm thick, 10.0; bark blaze with two layers; faintly to non-aromatic; outer blaze brown, fibrous; inner blaze white, fibrous; bark exudate (sap) present or absent, colourless (yellowish), not readily flowing (spotty), colour not changing on exposure to air, sticky; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.
Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) absent.
Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, spiral (leaves occurring singly at a node and arranged spirally up the branchlet), simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole present, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade, not swollen; leaves broadest above middle or broadest at or near middle, (12.0-) 26.0-45.0 cm, (4.0-) 9.0-16.0 cm; symmetric, entire, not dissected or lobed, rounded or obtuse, venation pinnate, secondary veins open, prominent, intramarginal veins absent; leaves indumentum (hairs) present, dense to sparse; absent; domatia absent; stipules absent.
Flowers: Inflorescence axillary, flowers on a branched axis, cones absent; flowers bisexual, not stalked to stalked (shortly), flowers with many planes of symmetry, 2.0-2.5 mm long, diameter small (up to10 mm diam.); perianth present, with distinct sepals and petals whorls, inner perianth white (cream-coloured); (4-) 5 (-6), free; stamens (8-) 10 (-12), present, free of each other, free of the perianth; ovary superior, carpels separate (when more than one), locules 4-(1 per carpel)-6; styles solitary, 1.
Fruits: Infrutescence arranged on branched axis, fruit 16.0-21.0 mm long, brown, not spiny, fleshy, aggregate, indehiscent, drupe; seeds 1, much more than 10 mm long, not winged, broad (as wide as long), seed more than 10 mm diam.
Distribution: West Sepik, East Sepik, Madang, Morobe, Southern Highlands, Western, Gulf, Central, Northern, Milne Bay, Papuan Islands, New Britain, New Ireland, Manus, Bougainville.
