Field Characters: Large canopy tree (up to 45 m high) or Small sub-canopy tree; Bole cylindrical (up to c. 90 cm diam.); straight (bole up to c. 20 m long); buttresses buttresses present; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark cream-coloured, grey, or brown, rough or smooth, scaly or flaky or fissured (scattered longitudinally); Subrhytidome (under-bark) yellow (dark straw-coloured) or green; less than 25 mm thick (papery & thin); bark blaze consisting of one layer; faintly to non-aromatic; outer blaze white (straw-coloured) or pale brown, markings absent; inner blaze white (straw-coloured) or pale brown, markings absent; bark exudate (sap) absent; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.

Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) present, hairs dense to sparse.

Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, spiral (leaves occurring singly at a node and arranged spirally up the branchlet), simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole present, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade, not swollen; leaves broadest above middle to broadest at or near middle, 8.0-11.0 cm, 6.0-8.0 cm; symmetric, serrate to dentate (toothed) (widely spaced obscure teeth), not dissected or lobed, obtuse to acute, venation pinnate, secondary veins open, prominent, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface pale green, upper surface green, indumentum (hairs) present (on lower surface), indumentum (hairs) dense; absent; domatia absent; stipules absent.

Flowers: Inflorescence axillary, flowers on an unbranched axis, cones absent; flowers bisexual, stalked, flowers with many planes of symmetry, 17.0-19.0 mm long, diameter small (up to10 mm diam.); perianth present, with distinct sepals and petals whorls, inner perianth white; 5, free; stamens 28-33, present, free of each other, free of the perianth; ovary superior, carpels joined (when more than one), locules 3; styles solitary, 1.

Fruits: Infrutescence arranged on unbranched axis, fruit 10.0-15.0 mm long, green to brown to grey, not spiny, fleshy, simple, dehiscent, capsule; seeds 3, about 10 mm long, not winged, broad (as wide as long), seed 1-10 mm diam.

Distribution: Morobe.
