Field Characters: Small sub-canopy tree or Large canopy tree (up to 35 m high); Bole cylindrical (up to c. 80 cm diam.); straight (bole up to c. 27 m long); buttresses buttresses absent; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark brown, brownish black, or brownish orange, rough, fissured or scaly or flaky (large and irregular); Subrhytidome (under-bark) yellow or red; less than 25 mm thick, 10.0-15.0; bark blaze consisting of one layer; strongly aromatic; pleasant (slightly citrus-like); outer blaze yellow (pale (straw-coloured) or white, with stripes, fibrous; inner blaze white or yellow (pale (straw-coloured), with stripes, fibrous; bark exudate (sap) present, pale yellow or colourless, not readily flowing (spotty), colour changing on exposure to air, to pale brown, black, or golden-coloured, not sticky or slightly sticky; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.
Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) absent.
Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, spiral (leaves occurring singly at a node and arranged spirally up the branchlet), simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole present, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade, not swollen; leaves sometimes equally broad throughout much of length or broadest at or near middle, 6.0-15.0 cm, 3.0-6.0 (-8.0) cm; symmetric, entire, not dissected or lobed, obtuse or bluntly acuminate, venation pinnate, secondary veins open, not prominent, but visible, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface pale green, upper surface dark green, indumentum (hairs) absent; absent; domatia absent; stipules absent.
Flowers: Inflorescence axillary, flowers on a branched axis, cones absent; flowers bisexual, stalked, flowers with many planes of symmetry, 2.0-2.5 mm long, diameter small (up to10 mm diam.) (2-3 mm diam.); perianth present, with distinct sepals and petals whorls, inner perianth white; 5, free; stamens 5, present, free of each other, free of the perianth; ovary superior, carpels joined (when more than one), locules 5; styles solitary, 1.
Fruits: Infrutescence arranged on branched axis, fruit 5.0-7.0 mm long, 5.0-6.0 mm diam., green (dark (surface speckled with small oil dots), not spiny, fleshy, simple, indehiscent (irregularly split into two), schizocarp (consisting of one seed in one locule); seeds 1, to about 5 mm long (5-6 mm long), not winged, broad (as wide as long) (black), seed 1-10 mm diam. (4-5 mm diam.).
Distribution: Morobe or Central.
