Field Characters: Small sub-canopy tree (up to 20 m high); Bole cylindrical (up to 26 cm diam.); straight (bole up to c. 14 m long); buttresses buttresses absent; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark grey or brown, slightly rough, somewhat pustular, lenticels rounded/swelling (mostly sparse); Subrhytidome (under-bark) green (olive-green); less than 25 mm thick, 4.0-6.0; bark blaze with two layers; faintly to non-aromatic; outer blaze greyish brown, markings absent, fibrous; inner blaze pink, red, or dark brown, markings absent, fibrous; bark exudate (sap) absent; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.

Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) present when young or later absent, hairs dense.

Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, spiral (leaves occurring singly at a node and arranged spirally up the branchlet), simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole present, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade, not swollen; leaves slightly broadest above middle or broadest at or near middle, 11.0-21.0 cm, 2.0-5.5 cm; symmetric, entire, dissected or lobed when immature or not dissected or lobed when mature, pinnately lobed (juvenile leaves and those of coppice shoots), acute, venation pinnate when immature or palmate when mature, secondary veins open, not prominent, but visible, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface pale green (to silvery green), upper surface dull dark green, indumentum (hairs) absent or present (lower surface), indumentum (hairs) dense; absent; domatia absent; stipules absent.

Flowers: Inflorescence terminal, flowers on a branched axis, cones absent; flowers bisexual, stalked, flowers with one plane of symmetry, 8.0 mm long, diameter small (up to10 mm diam.); perianth present, with all sepals and/or petals (hence tepals) similar, inner perianth greenish yellow; 4, some or partly joined; stamens 4, absent, free of each other, joined to the perianth; ovary superior, carpels joined (when more than one), locules 1; styles solitary, 1.

Fruits: Infrutescence arranged on branched axis, fruit 18.0-25.0 mm long, brown, not spiny, non-fleshy, simple, indehiscent or slightly dehiscent, follicle; seeds 2, about 10 mm long, not winged, narrow (longer than wide), seed 1-10 mm diam. (8-10 mm diam.).

Distribution: West Sepik, Morobe, Western Highlands, Eastern Highlands, Southern Highlands, Western, Central & Papuan Islands.
