Visited Papua briefly in 1892-1893 to collect sugar cane, but also made a small botanical collection from around Port Moresby (Central Province) and Kwato Island (Milne Bay Province) - probably from 6 - 31 December 1892, possibly to 1 Jan 1893. He returned to PNG very briefly in 1893, but only to Yule Island to re-collect sugar cane because his sugar canes had died (R. Hide, Australian National University, pers. comm. 28 Sep 2008).
